Letters to the Editor
Sir, The crowd behaviour during the three one-day cricket matches between India and West Indies is saddening. If this goes on for some more time, other countries would not be keen to visit us. It is the responsibility of the administration to prevent such untoward incidents. The public should also show some decency and prove to the world that India is a true cricket-loving country and is not made of hooligans of the soccer kind. T.N. Srinivasan, Charlestown, Australia Sir, The Rajkot match had a very ignominious climax. The image of our sports-loving public has been dented. It is time the BCCI stopped staging matches in such unruly places. The spectators can take a cue from the Chennai audience which gave a standing ovation even to our archrivals, Pakistan. After all, sports is another field to build friendship among nations, where winning is secondary to participation. Kailash Naraynan, Secunderabad
