Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Union Health Minister, Shatrughan Sinha's critical comments over the statistics of AIDS in India were unwarranted. This shows that he has panicked because his Ministry has not done enough to combat the epidemic. Appreciating the philanthropic endeavour of the Microsoft chairman, Bill Gates, and supporting him in all respects would have been better. Our Ministers are busy in mundane statistics rather than accepting the fact that the number of HIV positive persons in India is galloping. Sushil Mehra, Bangalore
