In a meeting held here under the chairmanship of A.V. Selvaraj, district coordinator, the organisation passed a resolution stating that Abdul Sathar sacrified his life recently for the cause of teachers and government employees. But the Minister had made a derogatory remark that the teacher might have died for personal reasons. This was objectionable, it said. In another resolution, it paid homage to those (Munusamy, Ramu and Kasipandian) who died during the strike period. It called upon the Government to immediately disburse one per cent of dearness allowance in cash, as agreed upon during the talks with the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa. It thanked the Chief Minister for having withdrawn the cases against those arrested during the strike period and also revoking the suspension of some teachers and employees.
