Bagan leaves for Seoul

KOLKATA NOV. 10 . Mohun Bagan left for Seoul on Sunday to play the final round qualifier of the Asian Football Confederation's inaugural Champions League against Taejon Citizen.

The first match of the double-leg contest will be held on Wednesday while the return match will be held at the Salt Lake Stadium here later in the month.

Mohun Bagan, which beat Saunders SC of Sri Lanka and Club Valencia of Maldives in the first two rounds, will be missing the services of its star striker Bhaichung Bhutia who had to sit out owing to an injury he sustained while playing for the country in the Busan Asian Games.

Before leaving for the crucial match which will ensure Bagan a berth in the elite Group Stage, coach Subrata Bhattacharya said that the team is suffering from a fitness crisis as a few more key players of the team are carrying injuries.

The fortune of the team will depend on the forms of Brazilian striker Jose Barreto and the attacking midfielder Nigerian George Ekeh.

The team will also be looking at the other two seasoned internationals in the half-line, Basudev Mondal and Renedy Singh.
