He was inaugurating the `Pharmacy Festival 2002' jointly organised under the auspices of the Kerala Private Pharmacists Association and the Kerala Pharmacy Graduates Association here today. Mr. Sankaran pointed out that a large number of private medical stores were selling drugs without proper licence from the Drugs Controller and not adhering to the existing provisions of the Drug and Cosmetic Act. Some of the medical stores even did not have a registered pharmacist. The approval of such medical stores would be cancelled. He also warned that drug inspectors misusing their official powers and unnecessarily conducting raids on private medical shops would be taken to task and departmental action would be initiated against them. P. Sujanapal, MLA, presided over the function. P. Jayaraj, Associate Professor, College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medical College, Kozhikode, Anjana John, principal, JDT Pharmacy College, and Sanil John, principal, National College of Pharmacy, offered felicitations at the inaugural function. The KPPA State president, M.R. Ajith Kishore, and the organising committee convener, Jayan Korathu, also spoke at the meeting.
