Warm welcome to Padmavati Express

TIRUPATI Nov. 10. A warm and rousing welcome was accorded to train 2764, now named Padmavati Express, when it arrived at the Tirupati East railway station at 7.40 a.m. on Sunday. The train was flagged off on Saturday by the Union Minister of State for Railways, Bandaru Dattatreya, at Secunderabad station at 7 p.m.

The Tirupati MP, N.Venkataswamy, the MLA, Ch.Krishnamurthy, and Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal, Praveen Kumar, boarded the engine and handed over a bouquet to the driver to greet him.

The erstwhile bi-weekly express has now been converted into a super fast express, which would run five days a week, that is on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Tirupati to Secunderabad and on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the reverse direction.

The train traces the route Nellore, Vijayawada, Kazipet and Khammam covering a distance of 740 km in 12 hours 40 minutes. The sleeper class fare has been fixed at Rs. 306. The train will also stop at Srikalahasti.
