48 hurt as school bus overturns

HYDERABAD Sept. 6. Forty-six children and two teachers of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan school sustained injuries when the school bus they were travelling overturned at Chinna Peddamma temple near National Academy of Construction (NAC) crossroads in Madhapur on Friday.

The Madhapur police said that 11 students and a teacher suffered grievous injuries. A total of 61 students and two teachers of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan were returning to school from a picnic at Kondapur Botanical Garden.

The Swathi Public School Correspondent, Phani Kumar, who was going on a scooter behind the bus and three constables -- Srinivas, Narsimha Reddy and Amar Singh -- who were present nearby, rushed to the scene and rescued the children.

All the injured were shifted to Apollo hospital. They were: Sreshta, Rishika, K.V.S. Krishna, Hima Reddy, Nainisha, Yashaswi, Karthik, Sandeep Teja, Sai Prathik, Gnan Ranjan, Priya and Sreedevi (teacher).
