Actress Manisha Koirala and the Shiv Sena MP, Sanjay Nirupam, speaking to the press after she met the Shiv Sena chief, Bal Thackeray, in Mumbai on Friday. AFP
Speaking to presspersons after an hour-long meeting with Mr. Thackeray, Ms. Koirala said she had met the Sena chief to explain "her problems" and thank him for his support in her fight against injustice. Admitting that her lawyer had taken up the case at Mr. Thackeray's direction, she said her stand had been "well represented." Manisha, flanked by the Sena MP, Sanjay Nirupam, said she was not aware that the screening of the film had been stalled in one of the city theatres. Her lawyers, however, would initiate legal action for contempt of court on Monday against those who had violated the court order. Maintaining that the Sena protest would not take a violent turn, Mr. Nirupam said "we want to maintain the focus of women exploitation in our protest."
