Pak. soldier released

By Our Staff Reporter

Jammu Sept. 6. It was homecoming for Sepoy Owair Mustafa, a soldier of the 647 Mujahid Battalion of the Pakistan army, who was in Indian custody for about a year. Mustafa, who had strayed across the Line of Control in the Rajouri sector a year ago, was today handed over to the Pakistani authorities.

Islamabad had requested the repartition of the soldier in a DGMO telephonic conversation on June 4.

Today, at about 9.45 a.m., the soldier wearing a green Pathani suit was presented before the

media and later handed over to the Pakistan rangers at the RS Pura sector of the International

Border. He was medically examined by a doctor.

Earlier, two Pakistan soldiers were returned on June 14, 2001 and January 15, 2002 in the Kutch sector.
