Unhygienic conditions in civil hospital irk CM

KARIMNAGAR SEPT. 6. The Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has expressed unhappiness at the poor hygienic conditions in the Government civil hospital and instructed authorities to take necessary measures to maintain cleanliness in the hospital and extend proper medicare to the poor.

Earlier, Mr. Naidu inaugurated the 350-bed hospital, constructed at a cost of Rs. 7 crores, here on Friday.

With regard to recently introduced telemedicine facility in the Government civil hospital, Mr. Naidu expressed concern over poor utilisation of the facility. He called upon doctors to use the facility in respect of at least four cases.

The Chief Minister also laid foundation stones for laying of a road at a cost of Rs. 55 lakhs at Subash Nagar under the DFID programme and construction of e-Seva centre at Kashmeergadda. He also launched the Velugu scheme at Peddapalli crossroads. He participated in the plantation programme at the Collectorate complex and at Mahila pranganam and DIET centre.

At the `Swashakthi sanghala awagahana sadassu', the Chief Minister distributed assets worth Rs. 16.32 crores to about 55,805 beneficiaries selected under the SHG linkage, SGSY programme, PMRY, CMEY, SC action plan and Adarna.

Speaking after launching the Velugu scheme, the Chief Minister said the scheme would be implemented in 42 mandals in the district. He said the Government was committed to the development of Karimnagar district in all spheres.

Cong. memorandum

Meanwhile, the District Congress Committee urged Mr. Naidu to declare the entire district drought- affected and sanction Rs. 1 crore to each mandal to tackle the situation.

In a memorandum submitted to Mr. Naidu, Congress legislators, T. Jeevan Reddy, J. Ratnakar Rao and Bomma Venkateshwar, the NSUI State president, Ponnam Prabhakar and others stated that the Government had declared only 24 mandals drought-hit when there was deficit rainfall in the entire district. They also demanded that the Government execute the SRSP flood flow canal and the Yellampalli projects, which had secured all clearances from the Centre.

CPI dharna disallowed

The district police foiled the attempt of the CPI to stage a dharna in front of the Collectorate and arrested activists at the party office and other place.

The police refused to give permission to CPI activists to stage a dharna in view of the Chief Minister's visit.

However, the CPI district secretary, Chada Venkat Reddy, the Rythu Sangham State general secretary, Kolli Nageswara Rao and others decided to take out a rally from the party office.

The CPI had been seeking a comprehensive action plan for development of Telangana, execution of SRSP flood flow canal and utilisation of Godavari waters.

Following the arrest of its functionaries, the CPI Chigumamidi ZPTC member, K. Shoba Rani and 20 others tried to obstruct Mr. Naidu's convoy at Kaman area.

However, the advance escort police dispersed the mob by resorting to mild lathicharge. Later, they were also arrested.
