Naga extremists attack Manipur-bound vehicles

Imphal Sept. 6. Naga extremists criminally assaulted a woman and molested several others after looting passengers of Manipur-bound vehicles at Piphem near Kohima on the National Highway, official sources said here today.

A group of about 20 ultras of an underground outfit operating in Nagaland stopped three passenger buses and two trucks in the wee hours of Thursday and looted cash and belongings worth over Rs. 70,000, the sources said.

The militants criminally assaulted a woman passenger. When the male passengers protested, they were severely beaten up. Some passengers and drivers said that they had lodged a verbal complaint at the police picket near Kohima about the incident.
