Unauthorised pigs to be shot down

Pondicherry Sept. 6. A decision was taken at a meeting convened today by the Health Minister, E. Valsaraj that unauthorised pigs roaming in residential areas and causing nuisance would be shot down in keeping with the provisions of rules.

The meeting reviewed the situation and also considered steps to be evolved to prevent occurence of brain fever anywhere in the Union Territory.

The Secretary to the Health Department, M. Sathiavathi, Local Administration Secretary, R. I. Jaiprakash,Additional District Magistrate Udipta Ray,Director of Medical Services D Thamma Rao, the Medical Superintendent G S Reddy, Senior Superintendent of Police Anandh Mohan and host of officers of the Municipalities participated in the deliberations.

The meeting discussed the steps to be taken to prevent unauthorised rearing of pigs and measures to prevent occurence of brain fever anywhere in the Union territory.
