Kerala youth tops in music contest

THRISSUR SEPT. 6. Anoop Sankar, hailing from Ollur near here, has come out on top among the contestants for the `Sapthaswarangal' telecast in Sun TV.

The second episode of the final show of the programme, featuring a competitive rendering of the Tamil film songs, will be telecast on Sun TV on Sunday(Sept. 8.)

Out of a total of 2,500 applicants who had applied from various parts of South India to participate in the programme, 500 were selected after a preliminary screening.

A total of 52 participants from a list of 500 appeared for the competition on TV.

In the final show, 2 men and 2 women participated for the top prizes for men and women separately. Mr. Sankar bagged the first prize in the national level festival `Saarang' organised by the IIT students at Chennai.
