Sir, __ The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa's sudden outburst at the Congress chief, Sonia Gandhi's foreign origin can be construed as contempt of court. This will set a bad precedent of ``sons (daughters) of soil'' theory. She herself has forgotten that she is `alien' to Tamil Nadu as also her mentor, M.G. Ramachandran. People elect their representatives for their ability, acumen and administrative capability rather than for caste, creed or colour. Ms. Jayalalithaa should concentrate on pressing problems such as the Cauvery issue and Veerappan rather than resorting to the politics of revenge. The `divide and praise' policy she is using on Mr. Vajpayee and Mr. Advani will find no takers. Her efforts to support a limping NDA alliance are wasteful. The central theme of her cry seems to be isolating Karunanidhi from both the NDA and the Congress. V. Sundaresan, Hyderabad
