Letters to the Editor
Sir, Your article, ``Criminalisation, society and the polity'' (Aug. 29). Hope does not lie in citizens mounting a sustained campaign against the poll reforms ordinance, but in sustained agitation against the blunt humiliation of the ``rule of law''. The author has brought out how the system drifted into this degeneration over the decades. The reports about clashes between Congress and BJP activists in New Delhi and AIADMK and DMK members trading blows in Chennai (Aug. 30) are disheartening. We have had enough of party rule and we should campaign for non-party Governments at the Centre and in the States. The campaign should include boycotting of elections till we are rid of these so-called leaders. R.T. Nathan, Chennai
