Two held on cheating charge

HYDERABAD Aug. 9. The Market police on Friday nabbed two cheats, who allegedly collected gold worth lakhs of rupees from six families claiming themselves as fortune tellers, and recovered 80 tolas of gold from them.

The police said that while Girish Joshi of Gujarat and Rachod Lal of Rajasthan were arrested, two of their accomplices, Naveen and Chetan were still at large.

Contraband seized

The Commissioner's Task Force (South) sleuths today nabbed two persons, Sadaqat Hussain of Uttar Pradesh and Zubair Ahmed of Chanchalguda, at Chanchalguda and recovered one kg of hashish, a product of cannabis plant, worth Rs. 50,000 from them.

The accused and the seized material were handed over to Dabeerpura police for further investigation, a press release said.

`Cheats' nabbed

The Humayunnagar police arrested two persons, J.L.N. Sharma and his son-in-law, R. Venkat Rao, for allegedly cheating an old woman with regard to the rights over a site of 640 sq. yards in Vijayanagar colony.

According to the police, Sharma cheated his sister, Kameswaramma, occupied the plot and entered into agreements with realtors to construct a complex in the land. The duo were arrested following a complaint by Kameswaramma.
