Police kept a watch on the house following a tip-off that counterfeit notes were being circulated from there. Sharat Chandra, Superintendent of Police, said that Hanumakka was the kingpin of the racket. Further investigation is on. Sources said that Hanumakka had links with the inmates of the Bellary Central Jail. This is the second such case detected by the police in the past week. Chitawadigi Police in Hospet city arrested a person recently and recovered 400 notes of Rs.100 denomination. The couple have also been booked under the Narcotics Act.
Two held
P.D.Halli Police have arrested two thieves and recovered stolen property worth Rs.6,000 from them. The two, Gummanur Yerriswamy (23) and Suresh, both residents of the village, were moving in suspicious circumstances and tried to escape when a police officer approached them. During interrogation, the two are said to have admitted to their crime. The two have been remanded to judicial custody up to August 22.
