The Managing Director of Cormic Healthcare, Anil Kumar, claimed that the company was the first to bring the concept of sweet coffee without sugar to India. Diacafe and Diachai contain the low-calorie sweetner, aspartame, said a release. These products are aimed at diabetics and the health-conscious. Citing research conducted in the United States, the press release said it was proven that people lived longer when they cut down their daily calorie intake. Cormic Healthcare said that Diacafe and Diachai were tested and certified by doctors to be a very effective low-calorie substitute for regular coffee and tea sweetened with sugar. Aspartame was non-toxic and was approved by World Health Organisation, American Diabetic Association, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a substitute for sugar, the release said. It is used globally in various products such as artificial sweeteners and carbonated beverages. Cormic Healthcare, headquartered in Hyderabad, first launched these low-calorie products in Andhra Pradesh.
