SoftBrands launches new product

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI AUG. 9. SoftBrands Manufacturing India, a wholly owned subsidiary of the U.S. based SoftBrands providing ERP and SCM (supply chain management) solutions, has launched a new product, DemandStream, for automobile and electronic manufacturers developed at its Bangalore centre. It is a lean manufacturing solution and executes manufacturing and purchasing activity based on actual demand and supply replenishment instead of pre-calculated scheduling.

Addressing a press conference, the President, SoftBrands Manufacturing, Randy Tofteland, said the company had already introduced two products, Fourth Shift and Evolution.

SoftBrands came to India by taking over the Fourth Shift Division of Systems Plus Pvt Ltd. With this takeover, Fourth Shift will now have direct presence through SoftBrands. The Indian outfit has software development centres in Nodia and Bangalore. The two mid-market products would target India and the neighbouring markets. It has its offshore development centre in China too.

The Country Manager for Indian operations, Binu Mathews, said in India, nearly 25 companies like TTK Prestige, ITC Filtrona and others were its clients, which used Fourth Shift. Worldover, there were 3,000 installations across 60 countries. The company was planning to invest nearly Rs. 3 crores in marketing and promotional activities. At present, it had staff strength of 80, which would be increased to 100 by the end of this year.
