DHAKA : Fiftythree defalcation cases have been filed against Sheikh Hasina (in the picture), former Bangladesh Prime Minister and now Opposition leader, and her former Cabinet colleagues. The Bureau of Anti-Corruption filed the cases on the basis of prima facie evidence after inquiry. The Bureau already submitted the charge-sheet in 18 cases, including one against Ms. Hasina, which are now under trial in different courts. The latest case, a charge of graft in the purchase of a frigate from South Korea, was filed against Ms. Sheikh Hasina and four others including the former naval chief, on Wednesday. The purchase of the frigate resulted in a loss of taka 447 crores, the charge said.
