'Malayalotsavam'

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Aug. 1. Over 300 artistes will participate in the `Malayalotsavam', an audiovisual presentation on the rich cultural history of Kerala, being staged jointly by the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club and the Department of Culture at the Nishagandhi auditorium here on August 15.

The Cultural Affairs Minister, G. Karthikeyan, told a press conference here today that the three-hour-long programme, with emphasis on music and to be coordinated by the film director, Lenin Rajendran, will be staged before an invited audience.

The singers K.J. Jesudas, M.G. Radhakrishnan, Sujatha, G. Venugopal, Gayathri, Bhavana Radhakrishnan, Manu Balakrishnan, Kavalam Sreekumar and Vidhu Pratap will render songs.

Those in the forefront of Malayalam cinema and theatre movement in the State will participate in the programme along with those from the socio-cultural arena, the Minister said. Among the leading actors to attend are Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Nedumudi Venu, Murali, Narendra Prasad and Navya Nair. The programme will also detail the evolution and growth of theatre movement and of Malayalam films.
