ST concessions for small units

By Our Special Correspondent

Bangalore Aug. 1. The Government has decided to help small industries which are sick, wherever it is possible to rehabilitate them by providing concessions such as deferment of sales tax, waiver of arrears of sales tax, and concessional power rates.

Making the announcement during question time in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday, the Large and Medium-scale Industries Minister, R.V. Deshpande, told Chandrakant Bellad (BJP) that the notification in that regard would be issued within a week.

Explaining the steps to promote industries in the Hubli-Dharwad area, he said he was not aware of the announcement made by the Minister for Major and Medium Irrigation, H.K. Patil, while campaigning in the biennial election to the Legislative Assembly, about commencement of air services from Hubli from August 15.
