The PW's loss was further confounded with the police recovering a Light Machine Gun, two Self-Loading Rifles, a .303 rifle and two revolvers in both the incidents. The slain platoon commander identified as Seshanna is also a member of the Mahabubnagar district committee of the PW. Our Ongole Staff Reporter writes: In the first ever encounter killing of naxalites in Prakasam district, four militants belonging to the military platoon of Nallamala forest division of the People's War were shot dead in a day-long gun fight between the police and the brigade at Alatampenta, bordering Mahabubnagar, early this morning. One of the five members of the naxalite squad managed to escape into the forest and a woman militant is said to be among the dead. According to a report, the Warangal police exchanged fire with PW naxalites in Vangapahad village and shot dead two naxalites. The district SP, Nalin Prabhat, said the naxalites were identified as Pandava Local Guerrilla Squad (LGS) deputy commander, Kondam Raju, and an LGS member Rajita.
