I-T Commissioner remanded in CBI custody

Kochi Aug. 1. The Commissioner for Income Tax (Appeal), M.N. Dixit, arrested by the CBI in a bribery case on Wednesday, was remanded in CBI custody till August 5 by the CBI Special Judge P.K. Burkath Ali.

The Commissioner was arrested when he was allegedly taking bribe from an industrialist at his office. In his complaint, Johny, an entrepreneur alleged that the Commissioner had demanded Rs.10,000 as bribe for reducing a fine of Rs.20,000 imposed on him.

Meanwhile, the bail petition filed by the Commissioner had been posted for hearing on August 3.
