Gordon takes 90-kg gold

MANCHESTER AUG. 1. England's Winston Gordon overcame early penalties to snatch the Commonwealth Games 90-kg gold with a late surge against Canada's Keith Morgan on Wednesday.

Scotland's Graeme Randall won the 81-kg category at the G-Mex Centre while Australia's Tom Hill outscored Christos Christodoulides of Cyprus to win the 73-kg division.

The results (all final):

Men: 73-kg: Tom Hill (Aus) bt Christos Christodoulides (Cyp); 81-kg: Graeme Randall (Sco) bt Thomas Cousins (Eng); 90-kg: Winston Gordon (Eng) bt Keith Morgan (Can).

Women: 57-kg: Maria Pekli (Aus) bt Jenni Brien (Sco); 63-kg: : Karen Roberts (Eng) bt Sarah Clark (Scot).
