Homoeopathy Bill gets RS nod

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI July 16. Shatrugan Sinha today opened his innings in Parliament as the Union Health Minister, by successfully piloting in the Rajya Sabha a Bill aimed at regulating and streamlining the education and practice of homoeopathy in the country.

The Bill, supported by all members and passed after a brief discussion, seeks to make prior approval from the Central Government mandatory for the establishment of a new college or for increasing the number of seats or for introducing a new or higher course of study. It also aims to include internship as part of the course.

Mr. Sinha assured the House that the enforcement machinery would be strengthened to check the menace of spurious drugs.

Friendly advice

PTI reports:

Unlike in Bollywood, in "Pollywood" (Parliament), Mr. Sinha has to be punctual — so he has been told.

The Parliament Affairs Minister, Pramod Mahajan, gave this friendly advice to the actor-turned politician on his first day of Parliament yesterday.

Mr. Sinha, who was to be introduced in the House, arrived a few minutes late prompting Mr. Mahajan to comment lightly that he cannot have the Bollywood kind of "punctuality" in Pollywood.
