Letters to the Editor
Sir, Your Editorial "The Xerox allegation" (July 8): Misappropriation of funds and corruption have always been partners to the people in power. The worst part is that after years of legal battle, most of them get acquitted in the absence of sufficient proof. Though everyone is equal before law, it is very difficult to file, frame and fight cases against the mighty, especially in India. The Xerox affair has shown that after all, the idealist American corporate world is also not above flaws. The Xerox revelations third in line after Enron and Worldcom may be succeeded by several more such scams. Despite all these, it would take far more than a few corporate flaws to shake the U.S. might. However, a matter of concern is that anything that affects America is going to affect others too as is seen in the Xerox case. This is a bad aspect of globalisation. Reema Sahay, Chennai
