Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
By Our Staff Reporter
In a press statement, its convenor, S. Sudhakar, said they were aware of the heavy price the PW would be paying to participate in the talks but the dialogue for peace reflected the desire of people. The PIC appealed to the Government to direct the police not to undertake combing operations or encounters during this period. Mr. Sudhakar condemned the recent killings of PW leaders. He pointed out that this was the fifth such `event' involving the police during the preliminaries of the talks and such irresponsible and provocative acts harmed the chances of peace. Mr. Sudhakar felt the PW stuck to its promise of not to indulge in any killings after the talks began but the police were taking their own stand with the top brass making statements against the armed cadre of naxalites. The committee expressed the fear that the police were determined to scuttle the talks and wanted the Government to restrain them.
