Special mahila court to be inaugurated today

CHENNAI JULY 4. A special mahila court, exclusively for cases relating to offences against women, will be inaugurated at the City Civil Court complex at the High Court premises here on Friday. The court will be presided over by a judicial officer of District Judge cadre, S. Vimala.

All women-related cases pending on the files of the Principal Sessions Court and Additional Sessions Courts will be transferred to this special court, according to the High Court Registry.

Another special court is being constituted at Coimbatore, for which the Salem Family Court judge, Ms. Kalavathi, will be the presiding officer. More than 150 cases have already been transferred to the special court in Coimbatore.
