Pilgrims stranded

Gopeshwar July 4. Thousands of pilgrims bound for Badrinath-Kedarnath shrines and Hemkund Sahib Gurdwara have been stranded in Uttaranchal following heavy rain and landslips, official sources said today.

Landslips caused by incessant rain in Bansbara, Guptakashi, Jangalchatti and other places affected the movement of pilgrims on the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway, Rudraprayag-Gaurikund and Gaurikund-Kedarnath trekking routes, they said. Water, power and ration supply were disrupted affecting normal life in Chamoli district.
