The paper said India had been using airbases in Leh and Jammu to provide air cover to its ground forces along the border in Northern Areas and Kashmir. India had moved warplanes and bomber aircraft to these bases after last December. Now Pakistan had activated its bases in Northern Areas and was moving warplanes to bases situated on the slopes of Siachen..The report said that earlier Indian warplanes used to take off from other bases to provide air cover to the ground forces in Northern Areas. But later they shifted base. On Tuesday, the PAF chief, Mushaf Ali Mir, visited forward airbases in Northern Areas and briefed the cadre on operational preparedness.
