Only selective de-mining: Army

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI JULY 4. Strongly denying suggestions that it had started the process of de-escalation, the Army today said that selective de-mining was being done to counter the dangers posed by mines during monsoon in certain areas. The Army is carrying out selective de-mining of certain low lying areas along the rivers/nullahs which are prone to flooding during monsoon in order to obviate the danger of mines drifting due to flood water and thus pose a serious hazard to civilians residing in the adjoining areas.

PTI reports:

Cautioning that chances of hostilities between India and Pakistan had not receded, the Army Chief, S. Padmanabhan, said today in an interview to the ``Current Affairs'' programme of Doordarshan, that Islamabad must dismantle its entire terrorism infrastructure to prevent any rise in tension.
