Letters to the Editor
Sir, I agree with your Editorial (July 4) that the mandate for the Election Commission to let the public know their candidate is a step in the right direction. However, it is only a step, maybe even a leap, but hardly a fulcrum to upset the axis of the syndrome. Criminality in politics is only a by-product. The acts, which potentially attract the clauses and sections of the IPC or the Cr.PC, are only the tip of the iceberg. But dividing society in the name of religion or God and offering bounties for votes is also a crime not only against democracy, but also humanity but the irony is that it is not a cognisable offence.
