In a message condoling the death of the former Vice- President today, Dr. Rangarajan said that during his distinguished public life he set an example of selfless service and stood for value-based politics. He set high standards of moral rectitude and political sagacity as Vice-President and guided the nation successfully.
The Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, expressed shock and grief at the demise of Jatti.
In a condolence message, Mr. Naidu said the former Vice-President was a stalwart of his times and a strict disciplinarian. His services as Minister of Finance and Food and chief minister of erstwhile Government of Mysore State and Lt. Governor of Ponidcherry and Governor of Orissa were highly appreciative.
Jatti brought glory to the country as Vice-President and ex officio chairman of the Rajya Sabha and as acting president of India. In his demise the country had lost a proud son and a remarkable parliamentarian, the Chief Minister said.
