Sir, Much of the responsibility for the criminal handling of the situation which led to the loss of hundreds of innocent members of the Muslim community has to be borne by the Union Government. It has proved the thorough incompetence and utter inefficiency of the Modi Government. A responsible and competent Government should have summarily acted against all agents provocateurs and beefed up security.
Given the enormity of the Godhra incident, the State Government should have asked the Centre for the deployment of the Army. Unfortunately, not only did the Gujarat Government prefer not to act but the rioters enjoyed its patronage and full support. The mob violence against Muslims was supported fully by the Gujarat police.
The only solution is to dismiss the Modi Government and impose President's rule. What prevents the Prime Minister from visiting the riot-affected State?
