KOLKATA, MARCH 1. Oil India Limited (OIL) jumped into the lead on Friday in the XXII PSCB inter-unit golf tournament at the Tollygunge Club course here with Simarjeet Singh and Manav Das returning excellent sub par scores of 66 and 68 respectively. The duo was ably supported by a good round of 71 by young Aparup Saikia on the challenging par 70 golf course.
OIL tallied 205 (5 under) for its best three scores from among the five members. Indian Oil ``A'' was second with a score of 207 (3 under). Boosted by a tremendous fightback from Gagan Verma and steady performances from Keshav Mishra (70) and Anitya Chand (71), Indian Oil stayed in contention.
Defending champion GAIL scored 213 with their top three scores coming from Jaideep Patwardhan (67), Sandy Lehal (72) and Manav Jaini (74). ONGC was in the fourth position with a score of 220. Young golfing sensation Harinder Gupta had a poor outing scoring a 74. With Vikram Rana and L. Selvadurai both shooting 73 each, the host was 15 shots off the pace.
