Ban orders in M.P.

INDORE, FEB. 28. Prohibitory orders under Section 144 had been imposed in the neighbouring Ratlam, Khandwa and Burhanpur towns as a precaution in view of the VHP's call for a Statewide bandh tomorrow, protesting the attack on Sabarmati Express at Godhra, officials said here today.

So far, no untoward incident was reported from these districts, sources said, adding a high-level meeting reviewed law and order in the division.

The Divisional Commissioner, Ram Sajivan, who chaired the meeting, directed the senior administration and police officers to keep a constant vigil in the city.

Meanwhile, VHP leaders here condoled the death of `karsevaks' in yesterday's incident and appealed to people to make the bandh a success.

The VHP would hold sectoral-level meetings tonight to pay respect to the `karsevaks' killed in the incident, the VHP leader, Kantibhai Patel, said.

He said that earlier it was decided that thousands of workers would go to Ayodhya to take part in the `karseva', but after the Godhra incident more than a lakh persons would go.
