VHP warns Govt. of serious consequences

AYODHYA, FEB. 28. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad today said the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, had ``failed'' to rein in terrorism and threatened the Government that if did not hand over the undisputed land to them, it would lead to ``serious consequences.''

The VHP general secretary, Praveen Togadia, said following Wednesday's train incident in Gujarat in which 58 people - mostly `kar sevaks' - were burnt alive, the Prime Minister should follow the example of U.S. President, George W. Bush, and order a war on the `jehadi' elements.

``If the Government does not bring to book the culprits behind the Gujarat incident, it will be thrown out,'' he threatened.

Mr. Togadia said the Government, which had imposed restrictions on the entry of `kar sevaks' in Ayodhya, would ``fail miserably'' in its attempt.
