Students continue agitation

CHENNAI, DEC. 11. Students from various city colleges continued their agitation for the second day today protesting ``police brutality'' on law college students.

Incidents of stone-throwing on MTC buses were also reported during which windshields of four buses and a tanker lorry were damaged.

According to the police, stones were pelted on four MTC buses outside the Presidency College at around 10-30 a.m.

At the Government Arts College, Nandanam, the students came to the road around 10-45 a.m. and threw stones on a water tanker lorry. Traffic on Anna Salai was disrupted for about half-an-hour. The vehicles from Saidapet heading towards Broadway were diverted through South Usman Road, police said.

Later they boarded an MTC bus near their college to reach the Kilpauk Medical College (KMC) hospital to see the Law College students admitted there. As the bus was packed, a large number of them climbed atop the vehicle. By the time they reached the KMC hospital, all the students were shifted to the Government General hospital, following the High Court directive.

The students then boarded another bus on Poonamallee High Road and went to the Government General hospital. En route, they pelted stones on a newspaper office on Poonamallee High Road Glasspanes of a car parked in the portico was damaged.
