CHENNAI, DEC. 11. Volunteers belonging to the MDMK led by the general secretary, Mr. Vaiko, today staged a slogan-shouting demonstration in front of the Chennai Collectorate, protesting the increase in power tariff, milk price and bus fare.

Addressing the workers, Mr. Vaiko said the recent hike was a hard blow dealt to the middle class and the partial rollback announced subsequently would not bring any relief to the people. He warned against any move to increase the price of rice under the Public Distribution System at a later date. Similar demonstrations were organised by the party in all district headquarters.
