Bakre continues to impress

HYDERABAD, DEC. 11. Tejas Bakre of India (ELO 2446) continues to be the surprise packet in the First Saturday Grandmasters chess tournament held in Budapest by pulling off another creditable win over Hungarian IM Czebe Attila (2491) in the ninth round to move into second position with six points, according to information received here on Tuesday.

Woman Grandmaster Koneru Humpy split points with IM Schenk Andreas of Germany (ELO 2443) to move up to fourth position with five points. She will play Yugoslavian GM Ilincic Zlatko (ELO 2521) with black pieces in the 10th round.

Hungarian GM Berkes Ferenc (ELO 2541) drew with Ilincic Zlatko to emerge sole leader with 6.5 points, while the latter has to be content with third spot with 5.5 points.
