Lara, Ganga bat well

COLOMBO, DEC. 11. Sri Lankan captain Sanath Jayasuriya grabbed three top-order wickets to restrict the West Indies to 250 for eight in the Tri-series one-day International here on Tuesday.

Electing to bat in the day-night match, the West Indies was racing away at 150 for two in 27 overs, when Jayasuriya came on to slow their progress with his left-arm spin bowling. Jayasuriya removed Brian Lara (60, 53b, 6 x 4, 2 x 4), Ramnaresh Sarwan (38) and Marlon Samuels (2) after having earlier run out opener Darren Ganga.

Lara was involved in a 74-run stand for the second wicket with Ganga (50, 68b, 5 x 4, 1 x 6), which came off just 12.1 overs. It was Lara's 46th half-century in one-dayers, apart from 14 centuries.

Later, Sarwan and captain Carl hooper (29) put on 58 runs for the fourth wicketbut the total was kept in check by off-spinner Kumar Dharmasena, who finished with three for 50.

Windies beat Sri Lanka

COLOMBO, DEC. 11. West Indies beat Sri Lanka by 49 runs in the third match of the triangular series. Colly Clllymore bagged five wickets for 51 runs as Sri Lanka chasing 250 was bowled out for 201. Jayasuriya (83) and Gunawardene (38) were the main scorers.
