Remembering a veteran

Sir, - In the passing away on Dec. 8 at Pune of Dr. C. Seetharaman, former head of division (biological products) Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Izatnagar, and the Food and Agricultural Organisation, the veterinary profession in general and the biological products wing in particular has lost a pioneer .

Belonging to one of the earliest batches of the Madras University when the B.V.Sc course was introduced, he distinguished himself in academics and in his career in the prestigious IVRI following which he served for several years as an FAO expert in Kabul and Kathmandu. As if to perpetuate his name the telegraphic address of the BP Division was SERA which looked like an abbreviation for his name.

S. Jayaraman,

Chennai
