Fleecing at airports
Sirs, - This is to bring to everyone's notice the rude behaviour and money fleecing practices at our airports which cause revulsion and disgust to the traveller. My son-in-law was returning to Manchester on Dec. 9 from Chennai. On arrival at 2.15 a.m. at the airport he was informed that he was late as the flight time had been changed to 3 a.m. from 4.10 a.m. After repeated pleas, his baggage was weighed. When it was found to be a little in excess, help was offered for monetary consideration. However, he off-loaded some personal belongings and requested for a plastic carry bag, which was offered to him at Rs. 50. Eventually the flight left only at 4.10 a.m.
While priority is being accorded to security the same should be done for passenger assistance and welfare at our airports to ensure that the country's reputation is not sullied.
