Opinion - Letters to the Editor

Fighting terrorism

Sir, - Now that the U.S. military action is almost over in Afghanistan, it is time for every country to plan for securing its people from terrorism. All countries have now understood the devastation and brutality which terrorism can unleash against humanity. We are likely to see an increase in acts of terrorism unless every country agrees to define terrorism in unequivocal terms and to combat it together irrespective of its interests. The U.S. is perhaps best placed today to take the lead in this matter. Will its leaders display the foresight and wisdom to do this? They owe it to the victims of the WTC attacks, their own people and to the people of the world.

Shailesh Gandhi,

Mumbai
