Indo-Japan film fete begins

HYDERABAD, DEC. 11. The Indo- Japan film festival got underway here today showcasing culture and technology, the characteristic strengths of the far eastern country that distinguish it from the rest of the world.

The films on Japanese technology and culture were first screened at Kolkata before reaching the City. They would now be screened at Bangalore, Chennai and Visakhapatnam.

The School Education Minister, Mr. M. Venkateswara Rao, underscored the need for adopting Japanese discipline in all walks of life in the country. ``It was their discipline that enabled them make rapid strides in a short period of time. Their presence in homes all over the world today by way of technology is indisputable, be it mobile phones, television or video cameras,'' he said.

Ministers Messrs. B. Gopalakrishna Reddy, T. Srinivas Yadav, Chief Producer, NHK International, a non-profit body established by the Japanese Broadcasting Corporation, NHK, Mr. Kozo Takahashi, Messrs. M.V. Janakiram and G. Upender Reddy, secretary general and chairman of the festival, were present.
