Two hardcore militants held
By Our Staff Reporter

NIZAMABAD, DEC. 11. The Asifabad police of Adilabad district on Tuesday arrested two hardcore militants of the banned People's War Group in connection with the blasting of a private jeep near Chalbadi of Kerameri mandal, carrying Agriculture Department officials to historic Jodeghat village, where the Komaram Bheem anniversary was scheduled last month.

The Kagaznagar DSP, Mr. Ch. Ramchander, said on the phone that the local CI, Mr. Padmanabha Reddy, apprehended Koranga Govind Rao and Koranga Hanumantha Rao of Chalbadi village for their alleged involvement in the blasting of the jeep and killing of a constable, Bhim Rao of Kerameri police station, in June this year.

The father-son duo were active PWG militants of interior Chalbadi village, considered to be a safe haven for naxals. They were part of a conspiracy hatched by the PWG leadership to eliminate Bhim Rao, accusing him of carrying out a campaign against naxals. Accordingly, Hanumantha Rao was directed by the naxals on June 12 to identify the victim while two others shot him dead.

Thereafter, both of them were involved in the blasting of the jeep near Chalbadi. Then there was an exchange of fire between the police and naxals for some time. The naxals blasted three Claymore mines and two landmines during the exchange of fire. It was later learnt that Govind Rao and Hanumantha Rao had helped the naxals lay the explosives on the road.
