Style is about personality
"Dress distinctively" seem to be the bywords of women's fashion.
Keeping pace with this insatiable desire to be different, the
innovative breed of contemporary designers are creating styles
that strongly assert individuality. The essence of modern women's
clothing is highly personal - reflective of her personality. And
like her, the clothes too come with loads of attitude.
"Folio made in Italy" is about definitive hemlines and sleek
silhouettes. Sure to set off a carefree mood, the trendy tops,
trousers, capris and skirts seem to say that true chic lies in
the subtlety of details. Regular trousers are passe. Here, all
the trousers come with distinctive touches - some flared, some
with a sprinkling of glint, some even with an unfinished look.
Imagine wearing trousers with frayed edges throughout - as if the
tailor had done a bad job of it! But that sells, "because it's
different." Fuchsia, plum, rasin, chocolate...the colours are
rich and the fabrics, wondrous.
That it's time to tease with textures is evident in the plethora
of refined fabrics (synthetic blends) that let your fingers do
the talking. Some of the tops come in wild prints and bright
hues, enough to beckon attention from a distance. Turtle neck,
boat neck, pleated detailing...the styling is hip and
comfortable. The Western line is priced at Rs.1,800 and above.
The season's hot buys include ethnic wear by a host of top-notch
designers such as Payal Singhal, Suhasaria (Rose Beauty),
Bhandej, Christina, Creative India etc. While the tissue net
creations of Payal Singhal shimmer with a liberal dose of
embellishment, Suhasaria's stand out for their fine textures and
subtle detailing. A collection of Indo-Westerns - short kurtis,
trousers and coordinated stoles have also been conjured up by
some of the designers. Christina's Indo-Westerns in pure crepe is
particularly eye-catching. Typically, the Bhandej collection
comes in ethnic fabrics and vibrant hues. These salwar suits in
cotton, which allow easy cross-over from formal to casual and
vice versa are priced Rs 1,300 and above.
Another attraction in Ffolio's Christmas-New Year range, is Jane
Shilton's evening bags. Exquisitely crafted, they are just right
for those who feel that accessories matter in the statement of
one's style.
