Big win for Osmania

KARAIKUDI, DEC. 13. A brilliant 78 (84b, 13x4) by Monica Preethy, a useful 55 (53b, 8x4) by Anithasai and the second wicket partnership of 131 between these two helped Osmania carve out a massive 200-run victory over Lakshmi Bai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE), Gwalior in the all India inter- University women's cricket tournament conducted by Alagappa University at CECRI ground here on Wednesday.

Mumbai posted an emphatic 174-run win over Kerala thanks to inspired bowling by Sheetal (four for 12) and Palal Vaidya (three for four) besides a half century (51) by Arpita and her 126 run partnership with Pooja Khuntia (37) at Umayal Stadium.

Madras shot out Amaravathi for 72 runs and scored the required runs for victory without losing any wicket at ACCET ground.

The scores: Osmania 297 for six in 50 overs (Anijhasai 55, Monica Preethy 78, Deepa 38, Archana 34) beat LNIPE 97 in 47.1 overs (Pavan Kumari three for 17).

GNDU Amritsar 165 for nine in 50 overs (Sandeep 30, Anita four for 20) beat Kurukshetra 76 for nine in 48 overs (Parvesh four for eight).

Mumbai 221 in 45.1 overs (Pooja Khuntia 37, Arpita 51) beat Kerala 47 in 17 overs (Sheetal four for 12, Palalvaidya three for four).

Amaravthi 72 in 24.1 overs (Sunitha Thakur 29, Snehal V.Salva three for 25, Kamatchi three for 20) lost to Madras 75 for no loss in 12.2 overs (Kamatchi 31 not out, Mahalakshmi 33 not out).

Alagappa 27 in 18.5 overs (Nilima Waghlare three for 12, Nadira Haider four for four) lost to Nagpur 28 for one in 4.4 overs.
