What happened to my document, asks Chandra Shekhar
NEW DELHI, DEC. 13. The former Prime Minister, Mr. Chandra
Shekhar, today said in the Lok Sabha that he has submitted
certain sensational documents to the Speaker, Mr. G.M.C.
Balayogi, and demanded that the Prime Minister and the Home
Minister be asked what action was taken on them if they were
aware of their contents.
Raising the issue after a bill seeking to reduce the Government's
equity in public sector banks was introduced, he said the
documents could lead to ``serious repercussions'' across the
country.
Without disclosing their contents, he, however, said people
``outside'' knew about them. Maintaining that his statements and
letters were treated with ``suspicion'' by the Government, Mr.
Chandra Shekhar said that was why he had submitted the documents
to the Speaker.
The former Prime Minister demanded that the Prime Minister, Mr.
Atal Behari Vajpayee, and the Home Minister, Mr. L.K. Advani,
should be called by the Speaker and asked whether they were aware
of the contents of the documents. ``In case they knew, it should
be found out what action has been taken by the Government,'' he
added.
